Truth about pornography addictions

In a recent training program at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Herbert Benson, M.D. addressed some of the effects of cybersex addictions.
"Most of the cases discussed, which covered hundreds of individuals in therapy, found that initially pornography is rewarding in terms of sexual desires. However, the research revealed that as the addiction increased most of the addicts involved in pornography develop a great distaste for the pornography itself, but are unable to release themselves from it because of the escalating crescendo of addictive patterns."

  • Conclusive data was presented demonstrating "progressive use of pornography" "brings about impotency"
  • "Progressive acting out of deviant sexual conduct. . causes people to abandon normal marital relations, including normal sexual relationships, in favor of indulging their severe addiction."
  • Accepting and participating in addictive disorders reduces the "spirituality" of those individuals and the societies they live in.
  • "With addictive disorders there is a loss of function in the prefrontal lobe of the brain as well as in the remaining portion of the frontal cortex"- causing "a diminished ability to think and concentrate."

The truth is that pornography is an addictive substance with tremendous and terrible consequences for individuals and societies who embrace it.
